How to Use Your Dual-Chamber Compost Tumbler
Steps:
1 Choose one side to begin with. Open the hatch and add a mix of greens (fruit/veg scraps, coffee grounds, grass clippings) and browns (dry leaves, shredded cardboard, sawdust).
Aim for 2–3 parts browns to 1 part greens.
2 Maintain proper moisture: contents should feel like a wrung-out sponge. If too dry, add a little water; if too wet, add more dry browns.
3 Spin the tumbler 2–3 times every few days to mix the pile and add oxygen.
4 Once the chamber is about ¾ full, stop adding new scraps. Let this side rest and begin filling the other chamber.
5 Keep turning both sides occasionally. The resting chamber will heat up and break down into compost.
6 After 2–4 months, finished compost will be dark, crumbly, and earthy smelling.
Remove it and use it in your garden, then restart that chamber.
Do NOT Add: • Meat, dairy, or oily foods • Bones or pet waste • Glossy paper or large woody sticks
Tip: Use the two chambers to alternate — one side “active” (adding scraps), the other side “finishing” (resting). This way, you’ll always have compost in prog
